What is Timberline Lodges?

Timberline Lodges

Timberline Lodges are located on-mountain at Fernie Alpine Resort, and consist of five existing Lodges plus the NEW Juniper Lodge. Each Lodge within Timberline Lodges is individually named after a native B.C. tree.

In 1989, Timberline Lodges began with the construction of our first lodge - Pine Lodge. This lodge offers a games room and outdoor whirlpool and BBQ area.   The next addition was Spruce Lodge, which contains an indoor whirlpool, games room, great room and balcony BBQ area.   The amenities of the third lodge, Aspen Lodge include an outdoor whirlpool tub, BBQ area, and massage room.

Our fourth Lodge, King Fir Lodge was built in 2001 and has Timberlines' Guest Services Front Desk. King Fir Lodge contains our guest check-in, as well as our Reservation Call Centre. The amenities in King Fir Lodge are available to all guests of Timberline Lodges, including an outdoor hot tub and heated swimming pool, fitness room, mountain spa and the Centennial Room for meetings and functions. Balsam Lodge was developed in 2002 and established a new level of finish in Fernie.

Juniper Lodge is our newest and final addition to the Timberline Lodges. Juniper Lodge also has its own private outdoor hot tubs, BBQ area and bike storage area.

Who is the developer and where is he from?

Mike Delich is the creator and developer of Fernie Vacation Properties, which began in 1989 with the Timberline Lodges, nestled among magnificent views, surrounded by beautiful Canadian Mountain scenery. Michael Delich has developed the most extensive portfolio of exquisite Resort Properties at Fernie Alpine Resort.

Michael Delich knows first hand why people love Fernie; having grown up in the Kootenays, Michael's passion for skiing extends to the highest level. An accredited International FIS race official, he recently represented Canada as an Official for the downhill events at the Turin Olympics and was the Chief of Race for the downhill event at the 1988 Olympics.

A passionate skier, Michael saw the opportunity to build a resort in the Kootenay Rockies as a rare chance to combine business with pleasure.

A long time resident of Fernie, Michael saw the potential of this scenic mountain community before any of the new expansions. He built his first property - Pine Lodge, the first Timberline Lodge, in 1989.  His concept of a 'Resort within a Resort' continued with further Timberline Lodges constructed - Spruce Lodge in 1990, Aspen Lodge in 1998, King Fir Lodge along with the Outdoor Swimming Pool & Hot tubs, Fitness Centre and Central Check-In area were built in 2001. The Fifth Timberline Lodge - Balsam Lodge reached completion in 2003. Once the final Lodge is constructed - Juniper Lodge - the Timberline Lodges will consist of 168 suites.

Fernie Vacation Properties has created a variety of exquisite homes at Fernie Golf Estates, right on the fairways of the Fernie Golf & Country Club. Michael Delich partnered with Olympic Gold Medallist, Kerrin Lee-Gartner and her husband Max Gartner to create Kerrin Lee-Gartner's Snow Creek Lodge in 1999.

Celebrating 17 years of bringing families magnificent recreation homes at Fernie Alpine Resort, Fernie Vacation Properties will continue their vision for Fernie Alpine Resort and the surrounding community.
