About Us - Development Team
“Make no little plans. They have no magic to stir men’s blood and probably themselves will not be realized. Make big plans; aim high in hope and work, remembering that a noble, logical program, once recorded, will never die, but long after we are gone will be a living thing, asserting itself with growing intensity.”
urban planner Daniel Hudson Burnham, the Architect of the 1909 Plan for Chicago and of many buildings in American cities
In 1989, Eldon Beck, the preeminent architect of mountain living, used these guiding words to open his Mountain Design Workshop at Whistler. Mike Delich, founder and creator of Fernie Vacation Properties, attended the workshop with twelve other designers from America, Europe and Canada. Delich then adopted these visionary words in his development spirit and had the words framed in his office for the next 30 years. Two months later in 1989, Mike Delich brought the renowned Eldon Beck back to Fernie with a group of architects and planners and created the 1989 Resort Master Plan for Fernie Snow Valley. The present buildings and architecural details of today's Fernie Alpine Resort were established with Eldon Beck's vision and plan.
Mike Delich – Celebrating Over 30 years of business in Fernie
As the Director of Fernie Vacation Properties, he developed and built many of the visionary and classic properties at Fernie Alpine Resort and in the surrounding community. His clear vision and focus on the elements of mountain living lead to the development, sale and completion of many properties; Timberline Lodges, Bear Paw Lodges, Snow Creek Lodge, Snow Creek Cabins and Polar Peak Lodges along with commercial properties on Main Street Fernie such as the Fernie General Store. As a volunteer, he has helped restored historic churches and other properties in the community.
Michael Delich and all who work for Fernie Vacation Properties share a passion of skiing and mountain living – in summer and in winter. His passion for skiing is known and respected. His ski coaching years had many successes in the sport of ski racing and as an Emeritus FIS official, his years of dedication are respected in the international ski racing fraternity. His passion has brought him to ski destinations around the world, travelling to signature ski venues and has allowed him to “take the best” architectural or design features” from the mountain communities and build into his Fernie developments. Fernie Vacation Properties shares their passion and years of experience in Fernie with your family and friends. Now, your home will be enjoyed today and for many seasons to come.
In 2016, Fernie Home Builders was recognized for Best in Class Builder for British Columbia with a Georgie Award for the Snow Creek Cabin project.
